Cyberattack confirmed after town, school network outage
Town Manager Andrew Flanagan confirmed on Aug. 22 that a cyberattack shut down Andover's municipal and school computer networks for four days, delaying teacher assignments to families just before the school year and cutting off online bill payments. The attack was first detected Aug. 13, and the town initially described the disruption only as a temporary internet connectivity issue. It is the second cybersecurity incident to hit Andover in less than a year, and an investigation into whether town or school data was accessed or stolen remains open.
